Importance of Timesharing

Parents who have a limited amount of timesharing with their children (for example every other weekend), often feel that they are required to do something “extra special” each time they are together with their children.  This can result in unrealistic expectations on the part of the children and a tremendous strain on the parent’s budget.  The key to not becoming a “Disney parent” is to find activities that are special to you and your children that don’t necessarily involve a high cost.  You can start your own traditions and make great memories without spending large sums of money.

Each family is different, so the possibilities are endless.  Some fun, and low cost, ideas might be to have a designated dinner and a movie night.  The children can help to cook the meal (make individual pizzas and experiment with toppings) and take turns picking the movies.  For dessert, make your own sundaes.  If you like gardening, your children can pick vegetables to grow and then be used in various meals that they help to make.  You can pick an organization and volunteer as a family.  The truth is, children will remember the time that you spent with them long after they have grown.  They may even continue your traditions with their children.
