Can A Third Party Pick Up A Child For Visitation?

Using a third party to facilitate pick-up and drop-off of a child for visitation is a good way to avoid abuse or violence between divorced/unmarried parents who do not get along. A third party can also prevent either parent from making false allegations against the other regarding behavior at visitation pick-up/drop-off, and the third party can document any problems that occur.

Use of a third party should only occur with the approval or order of the court. Sometimes courts also direct a law enforcement officer to monitor pick-ups and drop-offs, and if one parent does not follow the courts orders, the officer can arrest the offending parent.
